Thing A Day - Your Algorithm

Alright, well, I STARTED writing this awhile ago. It eventually got to the point where I hit a wall with it and just decided to let sleeping dogs lie. I began writing this for a short song cycle I had in mind titled "Legends of the Underdog" and this fit in nicely with a character I had in mind. Though it really isn't finished I don't totally hate what I wrote, in fact I think it's not half bad.

It just isn't finished. I'm posting it anyway because maybe if I throw it out there for a while then I can come back to it later. Who knows?

Your Algorithm - by Aaron J. Amendola

there's no formula stated
or a pattern devised,
that can add my thoughts together when I look into her eyes
she's my math lab partner.
the product of a perfect pairing,
and my nose always starts to bleed
when its her book that we're sharing.

i tend to sweat.
alot.
even when the weather isn't
all
that
hot
but

i'll write an algorithm for her
and an algorithm for me,
maybe an algorithm for us?
to sum it up, we'll be together.
a simple method for love
a chance i've only dream of.
a word problem i cannot solve,
its our algorithm for love.

i won't accept subtraction
from the equation at hand.
get me to the blackboard
so i can make my stand.
when she's thinking versace,
i'm studying fibonacci
but i'd treat her like a queen
or a well kept tamagotchi.

she's the apple of my eye
the perfect answer for x equals pie

i'll write an algorithm for her
and an algorithm for me,
maybe an algorithm for us
to sum it up we'll be together
a simple method for love
a chance i've only dreamed of
don't slam the textbook shut on us
write down our algorithm for love

my factoral'd excitement
can't be divided.
these newfound angles
would be subsided.
i'm clickin' in my pen
for the day when
i gather the words
and form a phrase
to group us together
for the rest of our days.

i'll write an algorithm for you
no, an algorithm for us
i'll sum it up: we'll be together.
a simple method for love
a chance i've only dreamed of
a word problem i'll solve someday
an algorithm for love.

THING A DAY - I'm Gonna Be O.K. (LAN'ded)

--- this was written for Christian in LAN'ded. I've been toying with the idea of doing a flashback of Christian back in New Hampshire. Packing up today I was able to throw this together whilst getting my luggage together. It plays like Mark-Cohen-does-"Lost-In-The-Wilderness" in my head. When I get together with Derek to go over music we'll see what happens. Anyway, here you go: A New TAD.

CHRISTIAN:
Walking through this empty dorm nothing seems to stick.
The past 4 years gone down in flames, the smell still makes me sick.
I don't know these people, what they're about. Who are they?
They laugh me off without a care cause I don't know what to say...

I've made it this far.

So I've gotta get out.
I've gotta fly.
Away from these fratboys or else I may die.
Gotta disconnect and re-apply myself to a place where I know.
I'm picking up, I'm letting go.
Just like Link, a sword and a bow.
I could fail, but I gotta try.
It's no use living a lie.

Way out there where the wild things are,
where you wish on a star,
somewhere far, far away.
I'm going out there far across the beyond
to the only place where I go to say
"I'm gonna be O.K."
I'm gonna be O.K.
I think I might be O.K...

MY LIFE EVERYDAY - 8/25/09

--- this was written as a sort of testimonial for christian, one of the lead characters in LAN'ded. i went into it feeling a very david yazbek vibe. for a first draft, i'm pretty happy with it. after putting some music to the words, i think it has a bit too much "twang" to it but hey, that's what second drafts are for. anyway, enjoy. :)

"MY LIFE EVERYDAY"
Christian
A SECTION
Any distance can be a journey
if you're not accustomed to the trail,
and I'd waltz right down that hallway
if I was sure I wouldn't fail.

So I'll stay inside and press continue
Just the same as yesterday.
Don't look at me with your pity
This is my life everyday.

I wake up and check my mail here
Look, everyone's my friend
And with all the work I've piled up
I'm afraid there's no room for pretend

And while I'd love to get fired up in a musical soiree
I'm more content with my comics
This is my life everyday.

B SECTION
Don't think that I'm sullen,
don't think that I'm sad.
This way of life isn't just passing through
and I don't see it as a fad.

A SECTION
50 feet can seem like miles
if inside is all you know.
It doesn't bother me cause
I don't think that I have to grow.

So I'll chill inside with a red bull and all my superfriends.
Even if I have thoughts of breaking away,
this is my life everyday.
This is my life everyday.
This is my life everyday.
